Deadly Choices

15/03/2017

On Thursday the 9th of March, our Indigenous students participated in their latest lesson in the 8 week ‘Deadly Choices’ program. Students meet weekly to discuss health and nutrition.

This week focused on ‘good quick tucker’ where the students had the opportunity to make fruit skewers and then of course eat them!

Each lesson is led by Charkeira, a Deadly Choices Ambassador, who is ably supported by a young lady from the Murri School. This program has happened as the result of hard work completed by our Community Education Counsellor, Aunty Justine, who is dedicated to engaging our indigenous students in enriching cultural activities.

Aunty Justine has also been successful in organising Indigenous Health Checks for our Year 7, 8 and 9 students last week, where doctors and nurses came out to work with our students one on one.  There will be an opportunity for our senior indigenous students to be involved in these health checks later in the year.
