Accelerated Program for Years 7-10

At FSCC we are always looking for ways to improve the educational outcomes for our students and help them achieve SUCCESS!! EVERY Student… EVERY Day!!  With this in mind, we offer students the opportunity to engage in an accelerated learning program that is designed to meet their needs as 21st Century learners.

Our ACE Program (Accelerate, Cognition, eLearning) provides opportunities for identified students in Years 7-10 to extend and develop their capabilities as a learner.  It is designed to challenge students and engage them in cognitively challenging curriculums via an eLearning platform. The ACE Program will be delivered within English, Maths, Science and Humanities subjects.

Standards & Expectations

ACE program students are expected to actively and positively engage in all aspects of school life, both in and outside of the classroom. Very high standards of effort are expected at all times, in all learning areas and through enrichment opportunities. Students must meet and maintain set standards to obtain a position and remain in the program.  These include:

  • maintaining a 95% attendance rate and attending class on time.

  • achieving a minimum B academic standard in ALL ACE classes (Maths, English, Science, Humanities)

  • maintaining a minimum VERY GOOD for both effort and behaviour for ALL curriculum areas.

  • following all school expectations as signed in the Flagstone State Community College Enrolment Agreement and Responsible Behaviour Plan.

  • meeting homework, bookwork and assignment expectations (including due dates).

  • being organised and prepared for learning by bringing all necessary books, equipment, charged laptop and materials to class.

As part of the ACE Program, students are expected to join the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program and therefore bring a Windows laptop to school every day for their classes.  The laptops will be utilised for online learning and technology tasks.

Applying for a place in the Year 7 ACE Program

If you are interested in submitting an application for the ACE Program for Year 7 in the following year, please complete the ACE Program Application Form and return it to Flagstone State Community College with your Enrolment Application no later than Monday 14/10/2019. Applications will be assessed and offers will be made to successful applicants by mid Term 4.

Applying for a place in the Year 8-10 ACE Program

Students will be offered positions in the Years 8-10 ACE Program based on their results (e.g. reporting, NAPLAN, diagnostic testing). This occurs at various points throughout the year.

Review Process

ACE students are reviewed in a cyclic manner throughout the year. Teachers will identify students in our ACE classes who are not yet meeting some of the above standards and expectations. The aim of this process is to work with students to reflect on their learning and set goals / strategies that will allow them to meet the above ACE criteria by the end of the review timeline. At the end of the review process, a decision is then made as to whether students continue in the ACE program.

Please contact us if you require further information about the ACE Program.
