Dance Troupe

Love dancing and performing? Would you like to learn various dance styles to further develop your technique and repertoire? Then Flagstone’s Dance Troupe is for you!

Dance Troupe was created for those students who have a love of Dance and the Creative Arts.  This group consists of a selected group of dancers who participate in dance technique extension and performances. To be selected for dance troupe, students go through a rigorous audition process; a workshop learning a short hip hop sequence, choreographed by our dance captain, and a performance of the dance in front of a panel of Creative Arts teachers which all takes place in term one of the year.

The successful students have the prospect of learning and performing a variety of dance styles, and the opportunity to perform at a number of different school and community events throughout the year.

2012 lead the students to compete at their first Eisteddfod in June, Remix hip hop competition in November and numerous performances for school events such as Awards Night, lunch time exhibitions and the Youngcare accommodation visit. As a reward for students’ hard work, we had the opportunity to have a 2 hour hip hop workshop with established hip hop performer Jasmine Meakin. The choreography we learnt was fresh and Jasmine left us wanting more! Such an exciting experience which we hope to share next year as well.

Not only do students gain performance skills necessary to continue a career within the Arts but have also build self-confidence and strong relationships within the group! I look forward to meeting you soon!
