Flagstone State Community College is committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies within our curriculum. Our Indigenous students are offered opportunities to learn more about Indigenous language, dance and art.

Indigenous Support Worker, Dawn Johnston, is available in Yabru Bujerum.

QATSIF Scholarships are available for Year 11 and Year 12 students to support them in continuing their studies.

The College also engages with the PACE (Parent and Community Engagement) Team. This is a group that supports parents and careers to engage with the school and community events.

New Cultural Awareness Tool

Reconciliation Australia has a new interactive, multimedia website called Share our Pride.

This website will give you a glimpse of how life looks from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective.

  • Who are the first Australians?
  • What special connection do we have to the land?
  • Why does the past matter today?
  • Can't we just put it behind us?
  • What are some of our strengths, joys and victories?
  • What are some keys to serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers well?
  • How have our people contributed to Australia today?

Share Our Pride is deigned to take you on an awareness-raising journey, answering more than the questions above.

It works through material in a certain order so each chapter builds on the last. You’ll get a taste of traditional cultures and learn about our shared history.

If you would like to start your journey please visit the Share Our Pride website
